meet the face behind the company
Hi! I'm Sil, founder of Silsconcretejungle. Thanks for stopping by. Plants have a very special place in my heart. What started off as a thought became reality in 2020 when I officially launched my small plant business during the pandemic.
My main business/line of work is in fitness, health and nutrition. My husband and I are co-owners/co-founders of our company Fitlife Athletics located in Toronto, ON. I have been training and coaching a wide range of clients through their personal goals and needs since 2009. My whole world changed when we were told we had to close down our gym during the pandemic. I had to put a halt on everything and go exclusively online. As someone who relied heavily on the gym/weights for mental health, it took a huge toll on me once I stopped moving and coaching in person on a daily basis. I went from 8-10 hour work days on my feet to sitting on the couch!
In between all of this, my second mother, my beloved Grandmother passed away in May 2020. I received a push from my Grandmothers spirit to pivot and finally work on opening my plant business. I used the time to mourn/think/connect with my Grandmother when I would go to my wholesalers to pick up orders.
It was always a clear sign for me that I was on the right path when everything I needed was always available to me.
2020 became the most busiest season for me. I had so much joy spreading the love across the GTA delivering plants to my clients! My body felt the familiarity of resistance from constantly lifting a variety of plants, especially those heavy 6-8ft plants!
I am very happy to share that Silsconcretejungle has expanded into plant styling services for homes and businesses, repotting services and consulting clients online, as well as in person. I also have a YouTube Plant channel where I have connected with people all over the world, from just sharing my tips and tricks and my love for plants.
My 700 sqft home is now a jungle, hence how the name Silsconcretejungle came to life.
